Twice a week campers will get to practice archery on the back of a moving horse! For safety, we will only be using safety arrows for all our classes. (Plunger arrows). Horses will be led by trained handlers, and classes will be tailored to each child's age and ability.
Camp includes lessons on veterinary medicine (campers will use a stethoscope to listen to a horse's heart, lungs, and stomach), dress up their horses for a costume contest, learn to braid manes and tails, equestrian terminology, how to clean a horses hooves, play games, scavenger hunts, paint horses, and much more!
this camp is suitable for all levels of riders as we do NOT include “riding lessons”. All time spent on the horse is exclusively for archery!
Summers can be hard for parents due to busy work schedules! We have options for early drop off and late pick ups to accommodate this need! During this extra time, campers will get to groom horses, play games, and other fun activities!
Our summer camps focus is on building emotional intelligence, confidence, and communication skills in children. Campers will work on their mental health in activities like as "horse whispering," where mindfulness and non-verbal communication are key. In this practice, children learn to use body language and a calm presence to interact with horses, fostering a deep sense of connection and empathy. This mindful engagement requires concentration and emotional regulation, skills that are beneficial for mental health, and transfer over to other aspects of life such as at home, with friends, and in the classroom. The quiet, focused atmosphere around horses allows children to practice being aware and present, reducing stress and anxiety. Such activities not only enhance a child's ability to communicate and express their feelings, but also promotes a tranquil state of mind, contributing significantly to their overall mental and emotional well-being.
As a camper, learn to communicate with horses using concentration, observation and your own body language. By gentle observation of a horse’s body languge, you can influence them through your own deep breathing, posture changes, and body movements!.
Listen to a horse’s heart, lungs, and stomach with a real stethoscope, and be able to identify different types of illness! You'll be taught about medications, wrapping injuries, and how to identify lameness.
Learn to confidently guide a horse through an obstacle course, over bridges, and under trees. Learn leading gear & how to use it properly. Tie a lot of equestrian knots!
Clean out a horses' hooves with a hoof pick! Make their coats shine with our grooming tools. You will also be able to brush and braid a horse’s mane and tail!
Learn how to talk like a horseman! Identify different breeds, colors, and markings, body parts, equipment, and all things horse!
Advanced students will learn training methods, make horses move at a fast pace, give a horse a massage, and so much more!
